Pinnawala - Home for Giants.

Elephant Orphanage Pinnawala is one of the world famous places for conservation of Asian elephants. It is governing by the Department of National Zoological Gardens. Today this center provides the home for large number of orphaned elephants except for those are born at the orphanage. All the others are "motherless" elephants brought to the orphanage in very young age as victim of unknown mysteries of nature.

Our aim is to bring this center to be best place for conservation and breading of Asian elephant in the world. We have been successful up to greater extent. Modernization program has already been launched to enhance the existing facilities such as animal welfare, education & research, veterinary care and staff and visitor facilities.
